Our field of expertise covers the following disciplines:
Metsi Projects is a design, procurement and management company and as such does not manufacture any equipment, nor do we employ specialist Quality Assurance Engineers, as each Project Manager is responsible for the quality assurance procedures that are carried out. In line with our Quality Policy, orders are placed with reputable companies who generally comply with the requirements of ISO 9001. Additionally we provide our suppliers with Quality Control Plans, where we specify the Client’s and our own requirements.
Metsi is committed to constant improvement and in order to ensure high quality products and services, we are at present working towards a system in line with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
It is of vital importance that accurate drawings are produced which will ensure successful projects. To ensure high standards, our mechanical layout and manufacturing drawings are produced in-house on AutoCAD® drawing software. This enables us to overlay mechanical equipment drawings onto drawings received by us in electronic format and we easily produce concept or "as-built drawings" for submission to Clients or Engineers.
Below are some projects we have done over the years.
Metsi Projects were awarded four major pump station projects for the Trans Caledon Tunnel Authority (TCTA). The first is for the Mokolo Dam Pump Station which feeds the Medupi Power Station, with a total installed power of 6,9MW and a value of about R50 million. The second project is the Steelpoort Pump Station, forming part of the Olifants River Water Resources Development Project, with a total installed power of 13,37MW and a value of about R67 million.
The third is the refurbishment of the Mearns Pump Station, situated at the Mearns weir, with an installed power of 7,88MW and a value of about R47 million. The fourth is the Mooi-Mgeni Pump Station situated at the Spring Grove Dam, with a total installed power of 6.5MW and a value of about R44 million.
Both the Mearns and Mooi-Mgeni Pump Stations are part of the Mooi-Mgeni Transfer Scheme which ensures that the Midmar Dam is supplied with water from an adjacent river system.
Recently completed and commissioned is the Vaalkop High Lift Pump Station for Magalies Water. This consists of four tandem pumpsets totalling about 6.4MW and delivering 972m³/h at 306m head.
Other significant completed projects in the Water Purification Industry include the complete mechanical and electrical works for the 75Ml/day extensions to the Inyaka Water Treatment Works for DWS and the 60Ml/day Nandoni Water Treatment Plant also for DWS; as well as the Mechanical and Electrical Works for the Extensions to the Olifantspoort WTW.
